Quick Word from Pastor Rob
God has a good plan for my life. I don’t have to be clueless because God is not.
God has individual details for everyone’s life that differ. For example, God called me to preach when I was 17 years old. It was the summer before I became a senior in high school. As a result I planned to attend Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri after I graduated. When college was finished I became a youth pastor and then in 1977 I came to New York and have stayed in ministry here ever since. This is what God wanted me to do. God’s specific plan for you will be different.
However, God’s plan for every Christian includes three things. The first thing is to glorify Him. What this means is that we are to honor Him, worship Him, exalt Him, love Him. The first part of the Lord’s Prayer says: “Our Father in heaven hallowed be your name”. In Matthew 22:37 we read: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind”. Both of these scriptures are about glorifying God.
The second thing is to be conformed to Him. This would be to strive to be more Christ like. Philippians 2:5 tells us: “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus”.
The third thing is to be obedient to Him. This can be accomplished by responding positively to what He says to us in His word. The scripture is clear in John 14:15: “If you love me keep my commandments”.
If we will work on these things God will work out the details.
