Quick Word from Pastor Rob
Sometimes in a church service or a prayer group you will hear someone give a testimony. A testimony is simply something you have experienced. It is common for Christians to praise and thank God for their salvation when they give a testimony. Many add to that by describing the ways that God has worked in their life to strengthen them and bring them to greater understanding.
In John 1:14 we are given the perfect testimony. It says: “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth”. This is a reference to Jesus but what I want you to notice is why it was perfect: “full of grace and truth”. It was 100% grace and 100% truth. This is why Jesus was able to attract so many people to His message.
If I am going to attract people to the message of the gospel I need to display these same things. Here’s what I mean. A good attractive testimony should manifest grace. This would be showing kindness, courtesy, compassion, and mercy. Jesus Christ has given all of these things to me and I should give them to others and so should you. A good attractive testimony should manifest truth. This would be accurately communicating what the Bible says even though it might not be popular. It is also important that we not give our opinions but stay focused on the scriptures.
If my testimony is grace without truth I do not have a message. If my testimony is truth without grace I will not have an audience.
