Quick Word from Pastor Rob
This morning I received some cheerful thoughts from a friend in the form of the old Peanuts comic strip. It was uplifting. Proverbs 17:22 says: “a merry heart does good like medicine”. Let me share a few thoughts on laughter.
Laughter lightens your load. Who has a load to carry? Everyone! Dr. Paul McGee said: “Your sense of humor is one of the most powerful tools you have to make certain that your daily mood and emotional state support good health”. Laughter doesn’t make problems go away but it makes them bearable. Right now everyone is worried about the contagious coronavirus. But laughter lightens other people’s loads because it too is contagious! Another thing about laughter, it unites people in difficult times. Boy do we need that.
Why not laugh yourself to a better life. Proverbs 15:15 says: “he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast”. Too many people get caught in the shadows of life. They are overcome with darkness. Think about these ways to keep it on the lighter side. Learn to laugh at yourself. The best way to take ourselves less seriously is to talk about the times we took ourselves too seriously. Keep things in perspective. Don’t take the weight of the world on your shoulders. Finally, remind yourself to lighten up!
