Quick Word from Pastor Rob
Psalms 23:2 tells us: “He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters”. These words have a calming effect. This is reassuring because sheep scare easily (that’s us) and we are reminded that the Lord who is our shepherd knows this and will make Himself available to us always. In what ways does He do this?
God’s love is perfect. He always does what is best for us. We may not know it at the time or even like it. Satan is always quick to remind us of this. If we allow ourselves to fall into his trap then we will forfeit peace. After Jesus’s resurrection the first thing that He said to His disciples was “peace be with you”. He could have said anything but He chose peace. He wants our life to be calm.
God’s wisdom is infinite. The reason that God always does what’s best for us is because He knows what’s best. You will often hear it expressed that God is omniscient which simply means that His knowledge is unlimited. His wisdom is unlimited as well. Isaiah 55:8-9 says: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts”.
God’s control is sovereign. He has all the power there is. Many times we think we are in control but we never are. Praise God we are not! If we were the ones in control it wouldn’t be pretty. The world today is a scary place for many reasons. I’m glad God has it all figured out.
