Quick Word from Pastor Rob
I have now been in the ministry for 47 years and one thing that I know for sure is that God wants to save you! II Peter 3:9 gives us some insight into the heart of God. It says: “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance”. Here’s what it is saying.
No one gets an automatic pass to go to Heaven. This is what many people think. The words “not willing that any should perish” tell us that some do not. This verse is not God’s decree that all people are automatically saved but rather that He desires for all people to be saved. This verse strikes at the very core of God’s love. He gave Jesus to die for our sins on the cross so we could be saved. Heaven is not an entitlement it is a gift. By accepting this gift and coming to repentance we will go to Heaven.
Everyone has an opportunity to go to Heaven. In I Timothy 2:3-4 Paul writes: “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth”. This is wonderful news! We have a free will and God wants us to exercise it by trusting in Jesus Christ.
