OUR
BELIEFS

"The purpose of Plainedge Church is to worship and magnify God by bringing people to Jesus Christ and equipping them to represent Him to our world in the 21st century. "

WHAT DO WE BELIEVE ABOUT

God?

We believe that there is one and only one living and true God.  He is the Creator and Ruler of the universe.  He has eternally existed in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1:1, 26-27; 3:22 | Psalm 19:1-3; 90:2 | Matthew 28:19 | Mark 1:9-11 | 1 Peter 1:2

Jesus Christ?

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  He is equal with the Father. He became man, without ceasing to be God, through the miracle of the virgin birth. He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world by dying on a cross. He arose bodily from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and is our Advocate and Intercessor. He will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Isaiah 7:14; 9:6 | John 1:1-5; 10:28-30 | Romans 3:24-25 | 1 Timothy 6:14-15 | Titus 2:13

Holy Spirit?

We believe that the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son. He is present in the world to make all people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He convicts of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation and provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth and guidance in doing what is right through the Word of God.

Genesis 1:2 | John 14:16-17; 16:7-15 | Romans 8:9 | Galatians 5:22-23 |

Ephesians 1:13-14; 5:18

Humanity?

We believe that God created man and woman in His image and free from sin. Because they disobeyed God they fell from their original perfection and inherited both physical and spiritual death.

Genesis 1:26-27; 3:1-7 | Isaiah 53:6 | Romans 3:23; 5:12 | Ephesians 2:1-3

WHAT DO WE BELIEVE ABOUT

The Bible?

We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired of God, and inerrant in the original writing, and that because of their origin and purpose they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life and all areas to which they speak.

            2 Timothy 3:16-17 | 2 Peter 1:20-21 | Psalm 119:105, 160 | Proverbs 30:5 |

Revelation 22:18-19

The Church?

We believe that the church is a local assembly of baptized believers that meet together regularly for worship, evangelism, fellowship, discipleship, and ministry. The true mission of the church is to preach the gospel, baptize believers, and assist them in their spiritual growth.

Matthew 16:15-19; 28:18-20 | Acts 2:41-42; 5:25-27 | 1 Timothy 3:1-13 | Acts 15:19-31

Creation?

We believe in the Genesis account of creation. It is to be accepted literally and not allegorically or figuratively. God is the creator of all things. Evolution is an unscriptural theory of origin.

Genesis 1-2 | Exodus 20:11 | John 1:1-3 | Acts 4:24 | Colossians 1:16-17 | Hebrews 11:3

The Second Coming?

We believe in the personal, imminent return of Jesus Christ to rapture His church. He will return to the earth to establish His kingdom and all believers will rule and reign with Him for eternity.

Zechariah 14:4-11 | 2 Thessalonians 1:10; 4:13-18 | Titus 2:13 | Revelation 19:11-16; 20:1-6

If you would like to know Jesus and have eternal life it is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Here’s what you have to do:

1. Acknowledge that you are a sinner. Everyone needs to start here. You are in need of His forgiveness. The Bible says: “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23 . We have missed God’s mark.

2. Believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins, took the punishment that you deserve. This is important. “Believing” in the Bible is more than just intellectually accepting the facts that Jesus died and rose from the dead. “Believing” means depend on and to trust completely.

3. Receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. Here is a prayer you can pray: Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. Please forgive me for all of my sins. I believe that you are God and that you died on the cross, and rose from the dead for me. I accept you into my heart and life to wash away my sins and give me eternal life in Heaven someday. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.”
